Best Practices: Import Management, 12-13 Nov, Jhb

Delivered by the Master Trainer for the International Chamber of Commerce for Africa, this two-day workshop will provide delegates with a complete perspective of the latest international trade processes. The presenter will discuss the real-world application of how to effectively handle the technical aspects relating to imports. This practical two day programme will highlight the potential problems and provide guidelines to ensure compliancy.

When importing into South Africa, the statutory requirements must be understood and implemented correctly in order to ensure compliancy and avoid possible fines & penalties. Practical exercises are included in this workshop which will provide delegates with the necessary information and practical skills which can be easily implemented in the work-place.

  • The International Trade Cycle and understanding the Global Value Chain
  • The Incoterms ® 2020
  • Import documentation including how to create an importer’s indent that will look after the needs of your company with every import order.
  • Transport documentation and other compliancy documentation to provide evidence performance with every import order.  Understanding the SAD500 import Customs clearance document and how to audit this document to ensure that the Clearing agent is compliant. 
  • Customs procedures including the Revised Kyoto Convention and SARS accredited trader programme, including the Customs Procedure Codes. 
  • Understanding the importance of pre-customs clearance.  Understanding the various Customs procedures such as Bond store entries, Rebate Store benefits and how to manage goods placed under the various Customs procedure measures
  • How to conduct sales at high seas and how to directly benefit from this type of sale
  • International methods of payment and SARB compliancy
  • Transportation and marine insurance, understanding the importance of “Shipped on Board”, endorsements and timeous receipt of documentation.  Marine insurance; comprehending the importance of Proforma claims.
